Homicide investigations can be quite complicated depending on what the accusations are. Technically a homicide is when someone kills another human being. There are a few different categories in criminal homicide. These are murder, manslaughter, patricide, matricide, justifiable homicide, and others. We will try to go over a few of these for you and make a little clearer.
Murder
This is when a person kills someone intentionally. We at Nickels Private Investigations have found that homicide investigations of this type, rise every year.
Manslaughter
This crime is divided into several groups. There is voluntary and involuntary man slaughter and homicide investigations determine which kind the offender commited based on the facts they find.
Patricide and Matricide
These are names that are used to describe who was killed in a homicide. In this case Patricide is the term used when the father is killed, and matricide when the mother is killed.
Justifiable Homicide
This is where a person is killed in defense. This type of homicide is considered self defense. When the private investigator is brought in to find all the facts regarding this type of homicide and it is found that it is justifiable, then it is recognized as self defense and the person is cleared. If for instance, someone came into your home with a gun and tried to harm you, and you killed him. This would be considered justifiable.
At any rate when a homicide is committed there will be a homicide investigation and often law enforcement requests the help of a private investigator like Nickels private investigations.
