homicide investigations

Remember the 2001 terrorist attack, where they purportedly used box cutters to get through airport investigations? Today it is quite common for homicide investigations to handle cases that don’t involve fire arms at all, but instead involve the use of tactical knives.

So now knives are no longer just used for sports activities, but long bladed serrated tactical knives are turning up in many urban homicide investigations. Even many civilians are using these knives as a form of self defense.

Why the Increase in use of Tactical knives?
Professional investigations in Maine, , Vermont and Mass., Have found that both criminals and private citizens are choosing this type of knife because it is light weight, easy to hide, and the blade length comes in different sizes. There is no mistaking these knives for just sports oriented activities, they now have serrated edges and perforated finishes which means they can be mortal and are the weapon that is looked for in many homicide investigations.

At Nickels Private Investigations, and those that are in law enforcement have seen many crimes committed with many different kinds of weapons. In fact, law enforcement official see any kind of knife as a ¨crime just waiting to happen.¨

Is it a Good Idea to Carry this Type of Knife?
Anyone who practices a sport activity like hiking, boating, camping, or swimming appreciate the ease with which these types of knives can be used, and whether you use one or not, for this type of activity is up to you.

On the other hand if you intend to carry one as a means of self defense, well any private investigator can tell you that there have been more accidents, criminal activities and homicides caused by knives than ever before in history. We have witnessed many homicide investigations were a tactical knife was the weapon of choice and in some cases it was the victims own knife that was used.
